Divine Mercy Shrine, El Salvador Misamis Oriental

If you are in Cagayan de Oro city, visit the Divine Mercy Shrine, El Salvador. This is a perfect place for pilgrimage with family and friends. You will find a 50-feet Divine Mercy statue; the tallest Divine Mercy Statue in the world. Tourists and Devotees are fond of coming here because of the serenity of the place and the view from above is very stunning.

At the main entrance of the Shrine before you can see the 50 feet statue, you will climb in this 100 step stairs. You may think it is very tiring but when your up there it's worth it. And remember as you enter the shrine please observe silence because the place is sacred and some of the people that are visiting the place are praying.

When you reach the top will see the Divine Mercy Statue right away. and if you want to go to the heart of the statue be there before 9:00 am in the morning, because there will be a short briefing and you cannot climb in the heart if you will not attend.

You can also attend the mass because there is a Chapel in the shrine and they have a shop where you can buy some souvenirs or Catholic gifts such as Bible, Crucifix, rosary and more. And do not worry when you are hungry and thirsty there are food house (karenderya) in the place; and if nature calls there are so many comfort rooms around.

Note: wear appropriate attire if possible but do not worry because at the entrance they will provide you skirt for the ladies and long cloth pants for the gentlemen for free.

Schedule:

The Shrine is open Daily from 6:00 am and 7:00 pm.

Monday and Friday Holy mass starts at 3:30 pm  

Saturday Holy mass: 8:00 am in the morning and 4:00 pm in the afternoon

Sunday Holy mass: 8:00 am, 10:00 am and 4:00 pm

How to get there:

From Laguindingan International Airport ride a taxi or coaster going to Cagayan de Oro city. Usually the rate is 200php. Tell the driver to drop you off at crossing going to the shrine and just ride a tricylce or habal habal for 15 php.

If you are already at Cagayan de Oro city you can ride a jeepney or a bus going to Iligan and just tell the driver to drop you off at crossing, the fare will be 25 php and 15 php for a tricycle ride from the crossing to the shrine or you can also ride a taxi usually taxi drivers will charge you 1000 php back and forth.(pakyaw)
